What is a CINE MRI Study? March 17, 2014

Posted by mvarlan in Uncategorized.

Many patients wonder why our NPH specialists order an MRI CINE study even when they have just completed a basic brain MRI study. Why is this necessary?

MRI CINE, otherwise known as a CSF Flow Study, is an MRI of the brain or spine that evaluates the flow of cerebrospinal fluid around the brain, brainstem and/or spinal cord. This analysis is crucial to identify a case of normal pressure hydrocephalus.

Not all radiology facilities are equipped with the software to perform these studies, so it is important to identify facilities close to your home which do offer this technology. Barrow Neurological Institute is equipped for this study as well as other complex diagnostic tests.

For more information about this procedure contact me at this blog or directly through my e-mail address noted below.
