What Should You do with Those Leftovers? June 5, 2014

If you didn’t get to participate in national Take Back Day, which gives you an opportunity to properly dispose of old and/or unused medications, opportunities are still available. Visit the Got Drugs? link on www.dea.gov  to find a collection site near you.

Arizona has a number of permanent drop boxes offering safe opportunities to dispose of medications (you can also check out the Arizona Prescription Drug Misuse and Abuse Initiative website for a list of drop box locations).

Medications that are thrown in the trash can be retrieved and sold. Medications that are flushed down the toilet can contaminate the water supply. Proper drug disposal can reduce access to drugs that can be a danger to our community.
