Programmable shunt valves have been instrumental in improving success of treatment for Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). Introduced approximately 15 years ago, this technology allows the NPH specialist to personalize the speed of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow from the brain, which may differ from patient to patient.

This ability to fine tune the device to meet the needs of each patient reduces the risks of overdrainage/underdrainage. To understand more about the mechanics of this device click here.
